You may get lost but you’ll never get stuck

At least not in Audrey’s Jeep.

It comes with bittersweetness that I announce that Audrey has listed her Jeep for sale. If interested you can view it on AutoTrader. We’re willing to autograph the seats (for a small one time fee + royalty). If you’re not looking to buy a car at this time we’re also willing to drive you around your neighborhood for $5 per day. We’ll pretend we’re your chauffeur and you can go around throwing change at the kids hangin’ out on your turf. Continue reading You may get lost but you’ll never get stuck

Why quit your job, when you can get laid off instead?

Anyone leaving on an RTW trip will eventually need to decide  on the preferred method as to how they’re going to resign from their current position. They could quit with notice, quit without notice (probably not recommended), get fired (also probably not the best choice), or get laid off.  Continue reading Why quit your job, when you can get laid off instead?

Did you know that “stuff” isn’t good for you?

I just finished reading Happy Money: The Science of Smarter Spending. I think the book makes a couple good points.

  • Use your money to buy experiences rather than things

We just saved $2,500 by visiting HungryAgents.com

HUGE step for the B$ travelers. We just listed our condo on the market. When researching to find a realtor who’d offer us the lowest commission rates, I stumbled across hungryagents.com.Typically agents for buyers and sellers each take a commission of roughly 2.5% to 3%, for a total cost of 5% to 6%, paid out of the seller’s proceeds. But as agents compete with discount brokers and flat-fee services, some are becoming more amenable to reducing their cut to 2% or less. “No one feels sorry for someone about to leave on a two year vacation.”

I’ve read a lot of posts from fellow RTWers who have helped provide advice as to how to save money for extended travel. Decluttering? Got it. Cancelling your cable? Easy! Don’t go out for costly dinners? Done! Serving as matron of honor in your sister’s wedding? Yikes. This is where things can get a little sticky. Where’s the advice people? Hasn’t anyone else had to go through this? Continue reading “No one feels sorry for someone about to leave on a two year vacation.”

Dear Banker, Thank you for sponsoring our RTW trip. Cheers! – The B$ Travelers

We’ve officially booked the 1st leg of our RTW tip to…drum roll please…Buenos Aires!

The best part. We’re only paying $7.50 for two 1 way tickets from Chicago. The United MileagePlus Explorer card we opened up just a few weeks ago is already paying huge dividends. We used 30,000 miles (each) to fly from O’hare to Buenos Aires. This means we still have 50,000 bonus miles remaining to use on other flights. We’re Getting A Lil’ StiR CRazY – Date Nights On A Budget

Although we have this fantastic adventure ahead of us, I have been feeling a little out of sorts lately. These last few weeks have been really difficult for me. I think it’s a mixture of feeling restless and a little stressed. Continue reading We’re Getting A Lil’ StiR CRazY – Date Nights On A Budget
