3 Ohrid Dream Homes – Best Real Estate in Macedonia!

Recently we learned of a Las Vegas community offering homes with the street addresses of Macedonia Avenue, Ohrid Lake Court, and Prespa Lake Court. A close Macedonian friend shared that a friend of her father’s developed this community after moving from Chicago to Las Vegas and starting a construction business.

While the Las Vegas houses aren’t for sale, talking about them reignited the flame to talk about my favorite properties in Macedonia. So let me take you on a “House Hunters International” tour of dream homes around Lake Ohrid.

Throughout history, man has always been drawn to water. Naturally, this makes waterfront properties highly desired real estate. People who live near a lake enjoy a variety of benefits; water sports, scenic beauty, and the tranquility that comes from being surrounded by a beautiful environment. With Ohrid’s stunning mountainous backdrop, it’s the perfect place for a lakeside retreat.

1. Mediterranean Villa and Pool With a View

European life is all about spending quality time outdoors—so why not spend it on this spacious sundeck at Villa Fortezza? This Mediterranean-inspired villa calls you to spend the day poolside, soaking in the sun, views, and fresh mountain air. On hot summer days, imagine watching the boat traffic from the refreshing pool or reading a good novel in a lounge chair under a shady umbrella.

Moreover, materials like stone and tile keep the home cool in the summer and the wood accents provide an element of warmth. From the balcony, an aerial view of Lake Ohrid is perfect for a hot coffee or chilled drink.

2. Privacy on Potpeš

Since we stumbled upon this patio in 2017, I’ve been dreaming about this lakefront property. Sitting directly on Lake Ohrid, this home must be one of the most coveted in the city. The covered patio has space for a barbeque grill, with plenty of flowers and greenery creating a picture-perfect aesthetic.

I imagine sitting at the table enjoying morning coffee with mountain views. Maybe as the day warms, I’d dip my feet in the water right from my own backyard.

In the evenings, I’d turn on some magical bistro lighting and enjoy a leisurely dinner paired with my favorite local wine. Harry and I joke that this is where we could write our memoirs.

The only thing missing is two cozy sunbeds, but thankfully the spacious patio has extra room to accommodate. This Potpeš property is pure magic to me. Whoever owns it is truly blessed—so, if it ever goes to market, please let us know. We have first dibs.

3. Trpejca Cliffside Retreat

As one of the best beaches on Lake Ohrid, we always set aside time to enjoy Trpejca. The pathway from the designated parking area to the beach always takes us past this idyllic property.

This cliffside retreat sits high above the most treasured piece of Ohrid’s lakeshore. It offers a bird-eye’s look of Trpejca Beach, and the dramatic mountain views from the yard are just stunning.

Every time we walk past this home, I stop to take a look and imagine what life would look like living perched high above Trpejca. The property’s covered porch, bright green yard, and terracotta planters filled with bright flowers radiate beauty and peace.

For me, one of the perks of this home is its prized location. It provides easy access to the best part of the lake. Additionally, you can watch the summer busyness from the quiet cliffs from above in July and August.
