There is truth that photography can inspire in just one shot. One day I came across a photo that put my wanderlust on full throttle. It was of a misty, mountainous landscape with a turquoise river running under huge marble cliffs. Trust us. Plitvice (PLEET-veet-seh) Lakes National Park is one of Europe’s hidden gems. We visited during March when prices are 3x LESS (than during the peak season) and crowds are at an epic low. Our admission fee was only $8 per person. The price includes access to all of the hiking trails, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and a panoramic train ride that picks you up at the finish line and takes you back to the starting point. I write this with tears in my eyes. We proudly present our most wonderful journey to our last, final continent. Many who venture to Antarctica are often overcome with emotion because it is such a unique, beautiful, indescribable place. On this journey we were surrounded by a young woman battling cancer, older folks on their last great adventure, and other backpackers taking a risky chance by living life in a less conventional way.
